Remarkable! is a corporate parable written by speaker/author Dr. Randy Ross and Chick-fil-A Vice President David Salyers. Taking abstract principles and creating a concrete narrative, Remarkable! engages the reader while imparting leadership lessons that can transform one’s workplace culture, one’s own response to life, and one’s personal relationships by introducing the four “maxims of value creation”: creativity (creating value in life); positivity (the by-product of creating value); sustainability (leveraging passion to solve problems); and responsibility (empowerment to create value).

Corporate and employee loyalty are at all-time lows. Employees are expenses; employers are a means to an end. This synergistic mentality can be anathema to a productive, loyal workforce. What can make employees pour all of their potential into their jobs? How can a team leader create a sense of loyalty among the team members? How can a corporate leader stop the revolving door of good employees? How should one empower managers to transform their teams? How do these efforts and outcomes affect the bottom line?

With the economy still struggling to recover from the recession, organizations may be focusing on numbers rather than the welfare of their valuable employees. What is the relationship between the job satisfaction of an employee and the bottom line of a corporate ledger? What is the difference between employing people and engaging with/investing in people?

Where money is typically seen as king, true success actually lies with a culture of selflessness, doing the right thing and building personal relationships. This is counter-cultural in every way – operating as a value creator, not a value extractor.

The same thing that will transform a company culture can transform personal and family relationships. What principles transcend context to create success at every point in our lives?

Rouses Markets recently held their annual store directors meeting in Thibodaux, Louisiana. We are the best regional grocer in the gulf coast and considered to be in the top five best regional grocers in the country. Having been in business for over sixty years, we have embarked on a growth plan that will require intentional focus on developing leaders. When selecting this years’ keynote speaker, Dr. Randy Ross was the unanimous choice.
The principles espoused in Remarkable! and in Randy’s keynote have been life-changing. Dr. Randy hit it out of the park! His content was thought provoking and focused on adding value to everyone around you. In the days since the meeting, the feedback from every manager has been overwhelmingly positive. Dr. Randy has a unique way of delivering a message that can’t help but go home with you. New power words are now in the vocabulary of our team and have begun to spread throughout conversations and leadership circles companywide. Leading a values-based brand, I knew after reading Dr. Randy Ross' book, Remarkable!, that Randy would be the perfect keynote speaker for our annual franchise conference.
Randy is an inspiring speaker who kept our audience of franchisees and their leadership teams engaged and wanting more! In the post-conference feedback, many of the attendees said that, "Dr. Ross was the best conference speaker we've ever had!"

We are grateful to have met Randy and to have the opportunity to integrate his philosophies into building a Remarkable culture at Massage Heights!

Shane Evans
Founder & President, Massage Heights Franchising LL

Dr. Ross gave the keynote address at Newport Hospitality’s Leadership Conference for General Managers and Directors of Sales. His presentation on “Choosing to be Remarkable” was the most impactful session at our Conference. Not only was the content powerful, but he also provided practical tools to help us create a path toward continued success.
Wayne West III
COO, Newport Hospitality Group

Randy is an exceptional speaker. He is engaging, charismatic, and thought provoking. His experience in consulting and business is seen clearly throughout his presentation. Our team made an instant connection with Randy.

I have heard numerous comments from our team members across the company regarding how the Remarkable! content has had a life-changing impact on them personally. We have seen this impact carry over into results. In 2015, we posted one of the strongest profits since we have been in existence and we have seen our culture transform from a good culture to a great culture. I am extremely pleased with the results and the change to our organization that Randy has helped bring. Most importantly, it has impacted and changed the personal lives of people, which will last a lifetime.

T. Neil Stevens
President & COO, KeyWorth Bank

The opportunity to have Dr. Randy Ross participating with our organization not only as a speaker, but also as a part of a strategic planning process has yielded great impact. The principles of the Remarkable Movement resonate with our corporate team and our franchisees. However, it's Dr. Ross' delivery of the message that has been the catalyst for making those principles part of the culture. For any organization committed to developing their business and their people, Remarkable! is the place to start.

Geoff Goodman
President, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt

Randy’s delivery captures the audience from the first question to the last word. After one of Randy’s sessions inside our organization, one of my executives came up to me and said, “Life changing!” Randy’s engaging approach (with stories, questions, and real life examples) is matched by principles that can be immediately applied and have an instant impact in your leadership effectiveness. More important than business results, his material is helping me and my leaders have a greater impact in life.

Dave Hare
Trilogy Health Services
Vice President of Training and Leadership Development

Randy was our keynote speaker and also facilitated a follow up session at our annual team gathering. His insightful perspectives, energy and ability to engage each and every person in the room was both powerful and incredibly effective in igniting and unlocking the potential of our team. Both the immediate and subsequent feedback have been overwhelmingly positive. Randy contributed greatly to our efforts to bring out the best in our people as we strive toward becoming a Remarkable! marketing organization.

Bruce Lahood
Vice President, Global Loyalty Consumer Marketing, IHG

Dr. Ross’ presentation was both engaging and inspiring. The powerful message and enthusiastic delivery was terrific. We have had many speakers over the years and I can say that Randy’s was truly “Remarkable!”

Kim E. Sims
President, Chesapeake Hospitality

At the center of a Remarkable! culture is the idea that we are here to create value for others rather than extracting value for ourselves. This model is contrary to what we are naturally attracted to as well as what we usually see and hear. Dr. Ross’ insightful instructions showed us practical applications on how this plays out in corporate and personal daily life and how to create rather than extract value in these situations. His ability to communicate clearly allowed both our executives and their spouses to benefit. His value creation model and advice continues to strengthen our team on our journey toward becoming Remarkable!

Steve Young
EVP, Chief Operating Officer, CenterState Bank

Randy was our keynote speaker for our national leadership meetings for two years in a row and brought tremendous value to each experience. He immersed himself in our vision and demonstrated flexibility to ensure all our objectives were met in his keynote address. He was engaging and automatically connected with our audience. We were thrilled with the message and how genuinely he delivered it.

Gina LaBarre
VP, Crowne Plaza Brand Management, IHG

In today’s changing workplace, culture is often discussed but not easily influenced. I can honestly say that Dr. Ross has played a significant role in shaping the culture of my team. Through multiple engagements, he has earned the trust of our team of sales & marketing professionals. His delivery, credibility and candor have all contributed to his successful sessions with us. Dr. Ross has played a key role in guiding us toward becoming a Remarkable! culture.

Jeremy Wheeler
Vice President Market Delivery, Newell Rubbermaid

I was excited to introduce Dr. Ross as a keynote speaker at our national franchise conference. He has also been a significant contributor to our employee development retreats and a nationally implemented training program, graciously traveling and participating side by side with us in several cities. His presentations are engaging, encouraging and insightful. Audiences listen attentively, engage thoroughly and leave with practical principles that they can apply immediately. The challenge and encouragement brought to our organization to make a difference has been invaluable, continuing to enrich and shape our evolving company culture. If you are at all interested in becoming Remarkable!, Randy helps build the momentum to make it possible.

Darin Harris
CEO Cici’s Pizza

Remarkable! is full of common sense that, unfortunately, is not common practice for many businesses. The principles imparted in the book and corresponding Roadmap to Remarkable, as well as being taught in the Remarkable Leaders Program (RLP), will change the way you do business.

The RLP was the most impactful two days of interactive training that I have ever experienced in my 26-year professional career. This program takes the common practices depicted in the book and brings them to life. If you want to improve the culture of your organization, while fully engaging your associates, I strongly encourage you to get each team member a copy of the book, Remarkable! If they embrace the principles imparted in the book, then you can most certainly expect a higher level of passion and performance to permeate the organization.
